Community Building Initiative is a non-profit organization supported by a spectrum of public and private sources.

Financial information about CBI and a copy of its charitable solicitation license are available from the North Carolina State Solicitation Licensing Branch at 888-830-4989. This license is not an endorsement by the State.

Fiscal Responsibility

Community Building Initiative's Executive Director and Executive Committee are responsible for its fiscal controls and accountability.  Each year, CBI carefully reviews and revises its operating and program budgets and fundraising strategies.  Our belief in fiscal responsibility is reflected in our modest staff salaries and reasonable annual expenditures. It is especially important in these challenging economic times that CBI donors understand the seriousness with which CBI staff approach financial issues.  CBI is dedicated to engaging the largest number of people possible using the smallest amount of resources, while maintaining the integrity and quality yof our work.

Intensifying the commitment and increasing the capacity of individuals and organizations to build a more inclusive and equitable community.

Community Building Initiative funding partners are called "Stakeholders" in recognition of the investment these people, companies, governmental units and foundations have made in their community, and as a testament to the importance the Charlotte community places on fulfilling CBI’s mission.
